The Hairy Coo mountain bike race is part of the Crieff and Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst walking festival, which began on Saturday. The festival is held at the time of year when, for several centuries, a big cattle market was held to sell highland cows that had been walked to Crieff from all over Scotland by drovers. Sunday’s event was held at Comrie Croft, using its expanding range of mountain bike trails.

There were three separate races: ‘The Bairns Race’ for children under 12, ‘The Wee Race’ for teenagers and ‘The Big Race’ for adults. Above are some of the photos I shot of the Big Race, a fun test of fitness, speed and skill around a tough track, up to four laps. See below for more.
