Polly Pullar, a freelance journalist living near Aberfeldy, was interested in using the Ring of Breadalbane Explorer to do a linear walk. I suggested that we do Day 2 of the Clan Ring of Breadalbane, from Comrie to St Fillans.

Our route took us up the River Lednock past the Deil’s Cauldron then steeply up to Melville’s Monument overlooking Comrie. We then followed the Maam Road and Dunira tracks steadily above Strathearn to Loch Boltachan. A final climb over a col gave us a bird’s-eye view of Loch Earn before we descended another track to the pretty loch side village.

Polly took plenty of photographs to illustrate a feature that she planned to write about our outing for the People’s Friend magazine. These were mainly of of the views and natural heritage, but inevitably our dogs became subject matter too.

We finished an enjoyable day sitting having a drink outside at the Four Seasons Hotel, overlooking Loch Earn. Being pet friendly, we could have gone inside with our dogs had it been raining.
