I enjoy trying to capture the beauty of woods as they come to life each year. First the snowdrops then –after a gap – primroses, lesser celandine, wood sorrel, wood anemones, violets and barren strawberry.
Prolonged cold temperatures meant that spring was late in 2015 and it was later May before the bluebells came out. Unusually, they lasted well into June. These shots are from a visit to Strowan woods, between Crieff and Comrie, on 23rd May when swathes of purply-blue were at last carpeting the woodland floor and fern fronds were uncurling.
